The Women’s Security Society Limited (WSS) is a not for profit company limited by guarantee, whose registered office is Dalton House, 60 Windsor Avenue, London SW19 2RR. The 4 founders of the Society are the WSS Directors. The WSS shall remain a no for profit organisation, seeking funding through sponsorship and assistance from amiable members.
We are a new and exciting society that will foster an inclusive networking and forum environment, bringing women together from all aspects of security from academia, commercial, public sectors and uniformed services. Our aim is to encourage the advancement of women working in today’s security world through the exchange of information and creation of collaborative relationships; thus engendering closer relationships and strengthening future prospects for women working within cross sector industries and across all security disciplines
Membership of the WSS is free but is subject to the rules set out below. By applying to become a member you agree to the following rules:
1. Eligibility for membership
The WSS shall remain an inclusive society, open to anyone working or studying in a security related or management specialist security discipline, or anyone interested in joining the discipline.
All information provided to the WSS as part of the application process must be true and correct to the best of the applicant’s belief and knowledge.
All applications for membership will be assessed by a member of the Board of Directors to ensure the eligibility criteria have been met. The Board retains the right to decline membership from anyone who does not meet the criteria or is deemed not to have provided accurate information, without further explanation.
2. Termination of membership
Membership can be revoked by the Board at any time. You can cancel your membership at any time by emailing us at email@example.com.
Non-compliance with these Rules may lead to termination of membership.
3. Executive Committee
The Board shall appoint an Executive Committee (ExCo). ExCo Members shall provide subject matter expertise from their areas and reach out to their own specialist areas to encourage attendance and participation from Women within their respective field. ExCo Members shall be appointed by the Board and considered on an annual basis. There will be an ExCo member to represent each of the following security disciplines:
- Physical security
- Close protection & hostile environments
- IT Security / cyber security
- Data Privacy
- Uniformed services
- Academia (including students and faculty)
- Fraud & Investigations
- Business Continuity & Resilience
The Board together with the ExCo will be responsible for the vision and design of the WSS. Responsibilities will include ensuring the day to day needs of the WSS are met through the following functions:
- Communication, Marketing & PR
- Event Planning
- Legal and Finance
4. Member Liability
The liability of each member is limited to £1 (one pound); being the amount that each member undertakes to contribute to the assets of the WSS in the event of its being wound up while she is a member or within one year if she ceases to be a member.
The WSS will endeavour to organise at least two formal events per calendar year. It is envisaged that these events will be themed (to be chosen and agreed by the Board & ExCo) and will include guest speakers from across the security industry. There is also intention to have representation from a senior/influential female from any industry that will introduce an aspect on leadership/careers. A social opportunity will be built in to events to maximise on networking opportunities.
Events will be hosted by member organisations and sponsors, free of charge to members. The event host must be able to commit to ample space, IT support and refreshments.
6. Intellectual Property
Except where expressly stated to the contrary, all intellectual property rights in the information (including text, images, graphics, designs & logos) contained in any WSS materials including the WSS website, including the domain name, are owned by the WSS or its licensors. You may not use copy, sell, rent, lease, trade under, grant any rights in, transfer, distribute or otherwise assign to any third party any of the materials or content on the site or any portion of it. Any unauthorised or restricted act in relation to the materials or consent on the site may result in civil and/or criminal proceedings.

You are permitted to use the information provided by the WSS (in printed materials and/or on the website) for your own personal, non-commercial use. This includes permission to view, print or download one copy of the materials or content on the website provided that any proprietary notices remain. You may not modify any content or materials in any way or reproduce or publicly display, distribute or otherwise use them for any public purpose without the WSS’ permission.
For the avoidance of doubt, you may not use the information:
- in any way that breaches any applicable law or regulation
- to transmit or enable others to transmit unsolicited marketing or other promotional material in any form
- in any way that is fraudulent
- in any way that harms to attempts to harm others
- to market products/services to members without the permission of the WSS
- to contact members for purposes unrelated to the aims and objectives of the WSS
9. Core Values
All Members must conduct themselves in accordance with the WSS’ core values in their dealings with the WSS:

If you are or become a WSS member and are provided with website log-on credentials (e.g. a user ID and password), you must treat such information as confidential, and not to disclose it to anyone else. We have the right to disable your log-on credentials if in our opinion you have failed to comply with these Rules.

These Rules are governed by the laws of England & Wales.
